Mastering Mobility with Ewiks and Powrtouch Caravan Movers
At Rooivalk Offroad, ensuring our caravans are as maneuverable as they are comfortable and rugged is a priority. That’s why we equip them with top-of-the-line
We are campers ourselves, of course. So here you can choose whether to include brandy or wine. We prefer brandy, but we’re also going to include space for wine glasses. But yes, we’re calling this “Dad’s Spot.” Mom can also use the spot, since she already shares everything with Dad.
Everyone asks me why the fridge is turned around and why the door is on this side. But I always say, I want to look my friends and family in the eyes when I open a beer for them or give them some food. When I’m chopping up food, I want to look at them, chat with them, and be part of the moment.
It’s the same with the fridge—I wanted to be able to take something out, prepare it here, and still be part of the conversation. Plus, it’s really easy to switch the fridge on and off or make adjustments. You don’t have to crawl under your bed; you can just open it up and manage everything right here.
And then there’s the cabinet for storing your things. On the day you buy the caravan, you can decide what you want to put in there, and we’ll even cut it out in foam for you to fit perfectly.
So here we’ve added a power outlet to make it easy and accessible. On the new models, we’ve also changed it so that it opens upwards, and the microwave is conveniently located right here.
And here we’ve added the light switches, and you’ll also notice there are lights in the awning’s poles. This ensures you don’t trip over camping chairs at night and provides the perfect lighting for your campsite.
Here are our gas stove. You’ll notice there’s some space here, but on the new models, we’ve adjusted it so it comes out a little further. We’ve also included a board here where you can place your items. It can take up to 180 degrees, so you can chop your ingredients and easily put them back onto the stove. You can also check if the meat is still raw without hassle.
We prefer to use cast iron because it keeps everything warmer for longer. We also include a handy bag where you can store it and then easily place it back in the caravan. Additionally, you can add a wind protector to ensure you don’t struggle with the wind affecting your gas stove while cooking.
We call this the wind lobby—it’s easy to remember. I think if you add this along with the awning at the front, it gives you a lot of space for camping. You can set up stretchers for more sleeping space, accommodating everyone comfortably since four people can sleep inside. Or you can put a table like this for meals or activities.
Personally, I prefer to set up my kitchen outside, away from the wind and dust.
And this here is for your dishes—you’ll notice it’s not stainless steel, which makes it microwave-safe, so you can use it for reheating as well. There are also plenty of storage bags where you can neatly organize and store all your items.
Here we’ve added another bag where you can store your soap and other items. You’ll also notice the wash-up area—it’s plain and simple. You can slide it out, and it’s multi-purpose. For example, if your wife asks you to peel potatoes, you can turn it around, sit on your chair, and get the job done.
You can use it for both cold and hot water, or have one section for washing and another for rinsing. Once you’re done, you can easily slide it off and store it back in the caravan.
And this here is our added room. It’s ideal for those longer trips—three weeks or more. You don’t need to rely on additional setups. You can see there’s plenty of space; you can easily fit two stretchers with room to spare.
The sides can also open up, providing more ventilation and flexibility. If you have young children, you can slide this front down to keep things tidy since it can often look like a mess inside. It’s a perfect spot for them to play and enjoy themselves while keeping everything organized.
Now let’s move inside the caravan, starting with the main bed. It measures 1.3 meters wide by just under 2.1 meters long, perfect for tall people. You can choose which side to sleep on—I personally prefer this side so my wife can reach over me. You can also opt for an island setup, but we found that it takes up a lot of space and limits your storage options, so this layout is much more practical and comfortable.
Moving on to the other beds, you have the flexibility to set it up as a four-bed arrangement or just a three-bed setup. If you don’t need the fourth bed, you can leave it out and use the space for storage instead. Alternatively, you can convert it into a two-seater with a small table. Many of our older customers prefer this, as they can sleep on one side and use the other side to play cards, have coffee, or enjoy breakfast.
We’ve also added plenty of compartments for storage, perfect for items like canned food and other essentials. You’ll also have easy access to both hot and cold water here for convenience. Additionally, we’ve included a small machine for those times when the wind outside is too strong. You can prepare a cup of coffee right here inside the cabin.
For storage, the drawers are deep and versatile, with one specifically designed as a shoe drawer to keep everything neat and organized.
We’ve also raised the roof a little higher to accommodate taller people.
For our clients who are photographers, we’ve added a new feature: zip-down panels. These allow them to take photos comfortably from inside the caravan and then zip the panels back up when they’re done.
And finally, the shower has been designed with ample space. You don’t need to sit while showering, and there’s enough room to comfortably lift your arms above your head. The shower also features a durable Raptor coating, which you can customize in the color of your choice. It’s resistant to salt water, and nothing sticks to it, making it easy to clean with just a simple wipe.
Let’s start with our power outlet. Here is your standard power outlet, and most camping areas do have electricity. However, if they don’t, we’ve included a solar system as a backup. The solar system is installed on top of the caravan, and there’s also another connection point for an additional solar panel. This allows you to connect both panels and charge simultaneously for maximum efficiency.
Often, by day two, your friends might find their gear isn’t working and want to plug into your system. To avoid that issue, we’ve added an extra connection point. This way, they can bring their own solar panel, plug it in here, and charge their equipment.
If you want to install Ewiks or Powrtouch caravan movers, we’ve made it hassle-free by including brackets. There’s no need to drill or bore into the caravan. You simply attach the movers using these brackets, which can be installed in about three hours. We’ve also added a power outlet specifically for movers, so you can easily connect them here.
This is our main electrical system, and it includes cutting-edge technology. The solar system is part of VICTRON, ensuring top-notch quality and reliability. Here, you can see all the plugs and connections, neatly arranged for easy access.
Additionally, we’ve equipped the caravan with a 2.4 kW lithium battery and a 2000W inverter, both from Victron. To enhance versatility, we’ve also included a built-in DC-to-DC plug. This comprehensive power system ensures you’re prepared for any situation, whether on or off the grid.
This small device here is our Hansen Geyser, which is versatile and can operate on either 220V electricity or gas, giving you flexibility depending on your setup and location.
Next, we move on to the storage. Here you’ll find a small gas bottle that’s easy to carry, but you can also bring more with you if its not going to be enough. There’s also dedicated storage for wood, keeping it neatly organized and easily accessible. Additionally, we’ve optimized the available space to provide even more storage for your essentials, making the most of every inch.
All of our windows are made from plexiglass, which is much safer and more durable. There is one window that can open, and we’ve added an anti-theft feature for extra security. The door is also made of plexiglass, so if you want to feel safer at night, you can simply close and lock it for peace of mind.
And finally, the back door—the entire back end of the caravan—can lift up with gas lifts, functioning like a car boot. For those who prefer an electronic option, you can replace the gas lifts with actuators for a more automated experience.
